Summary – Newlyweds Nick and Suzanne decide to move to the suburbs to provide a better life for their two kids. But their idea of a dream home is disturbed by a contractor with a bizarre approach to business.
Storyline – like I said this has to be one of the worst sequels ever made in 2007, the writing for this movie is bad the screenplay makes no sense, I didn’t really find the story was strong I found it weak, the comedy is bad, the drama is bad, and even I wouldn’t show this to my kids if I had any, the whole plot is all messed up, not as much as the star wars prequels those movies had some sort of entertainment but this one, omg this movie has to be one of the worst movies of 2007, this movie tried to be like the first one this one is worse the first one is a tiny bit better but this one doesn’t really pass my good movies award.
Camera Movements – the camera movements in this film I do admit are good, I liked the angles, the distances and the scenery, the way the movie is filmed is good that is a positive of the film.
Background – the movie set is great, the family’s apartment, the new house, the shack in front of the new house and some other sets they were good I liked the feeling of the scenery of the movie sets and the outdoors in the film.
Character Development – the chemistry of the cast well are ok but not really what you would think of a good choice of casting for the kids and father and mother, there backgrounds are pretty much the same nothing changed between the first movie and this one, are we there yet they took some time to introduce us to the main characters but this one doesn’t have anything new they just used the same background, what I was hoping for that Ice Cubes character to be more close with the kids but no he’s a strict dad and all the same from the previous movie, they could have made this into a great movie, like the family gets closer together there were a few scenes in this movie that it felt like it was headed that way but it didn’t it just went the other way.
Acting – Ice Cubes performance in this movie is ok but not really convincing I found his character a bit over rated especially the strict dad business like his character took things way to seriously I do like Ice Cube as an actor but this movie isn’t one of his best movies, Nia Long I found her character alright but only one thing I found that she has changed since the last movie is that she wants nick (Ice Cube) to be less serious with the kids and she pretty much the same from the last movie and that she doesn’t have any more character building for the movie, John C. McGinley I found his character alright in this film but his characters background wasn’t really explained or his characters motivations weren’t really laid out to us we only found out about a bit of his past till near on the end of the movie so nothing really explained his character development and it is a shame I would think if they explained his character to us a bit more I would have liked him a bit more.
Editing – the way this movie is edited is ok, the story wasn’t really strong, and the scenes tied in good.
Audio – the audio for the film is good, the actors weren’t to loud or to quite, and the soundtrack didn’t really help the movie at all there were no scenes I found that felt the way that the soundtrack was trying to put across to me, the sad scenes or the sentimental scenes didn’t really put any effect on me in my experience.
Visuals – the lighting was good, the visual effects were good, the tone of the movie was ok, the setting was all over the place and the story writing was awful.
Direction – the director of this movie is Steve Carr he brought you the movies (Mall Cop, Doctor. Dolittle 2, and Daddy Day Care) I found the directing style of this guy a bit off I’m not a fan of his directing style and I would never watch any of his other movies after seeing this movie.
Personal Opinions – in my opinion this movie is not recommended and I would save money on another movie instead of this movie, I wouldn’t even recommend renting this movie, let this movie pass if you disliked the first movie well you’re in for a torturous movie watching experience, do not watch this movie, do not buy it, do not rent, don’t even look at it, it will destroy you.
Conclusion – for the final verdict of this movie I give the movie a 3 out of 10, awful, horrible movie do not watch or dream of this movie pretend it didn’t even exist or even made.
