Summary – When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers Intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.
Storyline – when I first watched this film It was a bit hard for me to understand this film but after watching a few more times and concentrating on the plot I was finding myself enjoying the film more and more each time, I found this world to be beautiful and I was convinced that this world was real but unfortunately it wasn’t, that is how great this movie is the world is fantastic, the writing is great, the screenplay is fantastic, I was surprised how great this story is James Cameron really knows his film making (Especially after watching the terminator movies), I would really suggest going and watching this film.
Camera Movements – the filming of this film is so great, I liked the camera angles on the movie sets, and I liked the distances from the actors, and the green screens I did not see any whilst watching this film frame by frame.
Background – the movie sets were pretty much CGI and a studio but the CGI was so beautiful, there are movies that use too much CGI and they don’t really hold up in films over the years, but the CGI in this film really worked, it made the movie work, the movie would not have been good as It is without it.
Character Development – the chemistry between Sam Worthington & Zoe Saldana really works there humor in this film is great, there romance is a true feeling love story, Sam Worthington & Sigourney Weaver chemistry is fun in this film, especially her sarcasm she really makes this movie fun to watch and worth watching.
Acting – Sam Worthington’s acting in this film is the best then I have seen him in other movies I think this movie he really has a lot of fun acting and filming on location, Zoe Saldana’s performance in this film is great her characters background is great I really liked her character a lot in this film, Sigourney Weaver her character is full of fun she is funny, sarcastic, and makes up really great punch lines.
Editing – this movie is well edited, the movie’s plot was interesting, the movie is well directed, the movie is well written, and I could not find and flaws throughout the film.
Audio – the soundtrack to this film is awesome it really made the moment throughout the film, when there was a sad scene the soundtrack really affected me when there was dramatic scene, when there was a battle scene the soundtrack really made me feel like that there was a real battle going on, when someone dies and there is a really sad music plays in the background I can really feel the emotion that is going on in the scene, the actors voices weren’t too quite or too loud I heard there characters easily in this film and I can say the soundtrack made this film work.
Visuals – the visual effects in this film was spectacular, the CGI in this film is awesome the best CGI that I have seen in 2009 and I watched this movie in the Bendigo Cinemas in 3D a bit of warning don’t watch this movie in 3d your eyes will hurt after a while and you would need to take off the glasses for a break from time to time, the lighting for this film was great, the visuals was awesome.
Direction – the director of this movie is James Cameron you may know of his other movies (Titanic, The Terminator 2 Judgment Day, Aliens) and I have to say I like his directing style and he knows what he is doing and I heard he is doing a sequel to this film next year hopefully it holds up to my expectations that I have for it.
Personal Opinions – in my personal opinion of this movie is that it is awesome, if you are thinking of getting this movie I would suggest getting it on Blu – Ray you won’t regret it the quality of this film in 1080p is fantastic and you will want to watch this movie in best quality you can get so Blu-Ray is the best option.
Conclusion – for the final verdict I give this movie a 10 out of 10, an awesome movie great fun, awesome scenery and awesome action.
