The Bank Job Film Review

Summary – Business is slow for Terry Leather, a London car dealer, married with children. He's an artful dodger, so Martine, a former model with a thing for him, brings him her scheme: a bank's alarm is off for a couple weeks, so let's tunnel into the vault. He assembles a team, not realizing her real goal is a safe-deposit box with compromising photos of a royal: she needs the photos to trade for avoiding a jail sentence - and MI-5, or is it MI-6, is pulling the strings two steps removed. A Trinidadian thug, a high-end bordello owner, and a pornographer also have things stored in the vault, so the break-in threatens many a powerful personage. Is there any way these amateurs can pull it off?

Storyline – I found the storyline to this film entertaining, if you like heist movies, or films that are based on true events then this film is for you, the story plot is well written, the movies motivations were kicking in time to time to keep you interested enough to watch, if your into Jason Statham’s type of action, acting and style then you will find that you will like this movie, if not then I would say this isn’t a movie for you, I would say rent the movie to see what you think, but for Jason Statham fans I would say buy the movie on DVD and you will be just as satisfied, the movie is one of my favorite heist movies, alongside The Town (Ben Affleck), and Inside Man (Denzel Washington).

Camera Movements – the way this movie is filmed is great, there’s no shaky cam, now when it comes to filming I like watching the movie with steady shots not filming all over the place and this movie well filmed, I liked the camera angles chosen for filming, and the distances apart of the Actors and movie sets.

Background – the movie sets were filmed in actual locations in the USA, United Kingdom and here in Australia, and I was pretty surprised that it was filmed in Australia as well that they filmed in unfamiliar areas that I haven’t seen in Australia.

Character Development – they took the time to introduce us to the characters, and give us the idea of the motivation that drives them, the way they showed me how these characters developed throughout the movie is great, they have all the basics, motivation, planning, preparing and of course what they are going to do if plans go wrong, this is one of those movies that you can really enjoy with proper planned heists.

Acting –Jason Statham’s performance in this film is as good as his other movies, it has that classic Jason Statham action vibe to the film if you’re a Jason Statham fan then this movie is for you, Saffron Burrows her job Is to help plan the heists and she does a pretty good job, her performance in this film is good, I haven’t really seen any of her previous movies but she’s good, Stephen Campbell Moore plays as another heist crew and he does a good job, his energy seems to be good for the movie.

Editing – this movie is well edited, the story plot was entertaining and the movie made sense, the movie is well written, the screen play is good, and the acting suburb.

Audio – the soundtrack for this film is good, keeps you into the mood for the moments throughout the film, the actors were recorded nicely they were easy to understand.

Visuals – the visuals in this film was good, the visual effects were great, the lighting was good, the gunfire, the chase sequences were good, the explosions were good as well.

Direction – this film is directed by Roger Donaldson the other movies that he has directed is (no way out, Sleeping Dogs, and the bounty) the directors way of directing In this movie seemed to have worked I haven’t seen any of his other movies that he has directed but I enjoyed watching his style of directing.

Personal Opinions – in my personal opinion this movie is one of my enjoyable movies to watch, not necessarily worth buying on Blu-Ray it’s more to watch and have a good time, this movie is likely to be watched on a slow day or nothing to do type of day, it’s one of those types of movies.

Conclusion – for the final verdict I give this movie a 7 out of 10, an enjoyable movie to watch if your into watching heist movies.
